THE LIBERTY FOUND FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST
There was a time not that long ago when I was a frequent blogger. Changes in my family dynamics and responsibilities required that I leave that to others for a season. But this morning I felt led to write after a wonderful morning with the Lord.
In my time of fellowship with the Lord I found myself becoming conscious of gratefulness for the liberty found in His love. I also found myself thanking Him for the liberty that His love provides. I began detailing to Him what that liberty looks like in my life. Later as I was preparing breakfast and continuing to ponder on it I realized that this liberty is available, and likely exist in the lives of all who actively pursue surrender to God’s love and direction.
I told the Lord that His love liberates me from having to fight my own battles. His love enables me to simply trust Him and not seek out my own remedies and solutions to the issues of my life. His love provides a roadmap of action in which I do not have to follow the fleshly patterns and practices of those who do not live within the liberty of His love.
All of us – both the just and the unjust – receive the love of God. But to experience the liberty that comes from that love requires the response of loving Him back. Only those who love Him back experience the fullness of that liberty. And, if asked, most people would confess that they love God. However, God has a very particular way in which He receives love – in fact only one way. We might feel that our love for Him is demonstrated by certain actions. But He is clear that He only sees one action as sufficiently demonstrating our love for Him. It’s description is found in John 14:15 ~ “if you love Me, you will obey what I command.” Period. And He gave me a revelation about His commands a few months ago. They are not just the Bible verses; they also include the things that He speaks in our spirit to do that are not written on the pages of the Holy Scriptures. When He says leave, go, stay, forgive, give, speak, be silent, step out, etc., and we do not . . . well. Then our confession of love for Him becomes an empty and false statement. We lie. Love for God is obedience to God.
I have a bit more to say about this but have run out of time . . . look for Part 2 soon!
